Wanted to post a card for Christy, hopefully to cheer her up- you can read about what she is going through AND what we are doing for her here - hope you will take a minute to read what her family is going through and consider helping her out ( i was having technical difficulties posting the paypal donate button and this picture- go figure, so I had to make 2 posts)
I created this card with Hero Art stamps. The sentiment is part of a larger stamp that i chose to use only the sentiment, cutting it apart into “letter-fetti” (we use word and letter fetti my classes a lot) The clouds are from an older piece of American Crafts pattern paper (using my stash!!!) and then you have good old May Arts Sheer polka dot ribbon- I will never get tired of this ribbon! The not card is Memory Box.
Note: The copics linked below are for Sketch style, I use the Original Style in my studio, but wanted to link the colors used
I have a special post today. Christy, one of my fellow Lawnscaping Challenges girls home was broken into and a lot of their things were either destroyed or taken. Some of us wanted to do something to help her and her family get back on their feet – read on for more details:
“What makes our community so remarkable is that we are there for each other even though we can’t physically be near our friends. These “people” violated her home, the place where we are supposed to feel the most safe, where we raise our children and where we sleep in peace. I can not even imagine what she is going thru or the loss she has endured. Dealing with the police and insurance company has been and continues to be exhausting and frustrating for Christy and her family. She has been updating her Facebook page with some details.
Some of Christy’s friends have come together to help. We are of course making cards for her because that’s what we do, right? But ultimately, the expense of trying to get her family back on their feet will be somewhat of a strain. Imagine having to replace household items, necessities in our world all while trying to rebuild a sense of security that we all most times take for granted.
So, we’re asking for your help. We’ve tried to make it convenient for you to help Christy and her family. There’s a PayPal button on each of our blogs. We are asking that if its your hearts desire, that you donate whatever you can to help Christy and her family regain a sense of safety and security. NOTHING is too small. Every little bit will make all the difference. Our goal is to raise $1,000 to help cover the costs of food, lodging and replacing at least some of the items taken.
Thank you for even reading this post in its entirety.
If you’re interested in seeing all of the cards, a full list of girls who are participating in the card drive is available at the Lawnscaping Challenge blog & A Blog Named Hero“
You can see the card I created for her here
If you are interested in donating, please see the donate link below and later today I will be posting a card for her- hoping to cheer her up a bit
Thought I would share some of mister harley’s traits today.
Mister Harley for the most part is the sweetest kitty. He follows me wherever I go, always wants to give head butts. He doesn’t love to be held, but when I do get the chance he loves when i nuzzle his neck- he pushes his head into mine with his eyes closed. He has recently started to sit on my lap, usually only 5 minutes at a time, but i’ll take it :) He loves when i have a crafty day and he can just chill in his box on my studio table, if i don’t pay enough attention to him he will get up walk all over my project and come for a head butt- its funny. In the morning if i pull the blankets back, he will lay next to me for a while, but only if i pull the blankets back. When I do dishes he lays on his little counter (where his water bowl is) and hangs out while I do my chores. He drinks out of his water bowl now that it isn’t on the floor, and especially if I put an ice cube in it. He always tries to jump into the freezer, and is sometimes successful. He has turned his play attack he did as a kitten into serious business. He will grab and bite my leg if i’m leaving for work and he’s not happy about it, if I have my overnight bag, or if I don’t bring him outside- still trying to figure out how to break this habit. He’s just too smart for his own good. He doesn’t talk too much- chatter to the birds, pathetic meows through the window when I come home, and yowls when he wants to go out. Mister Harley is so so so good outside, and I’m happy that the harness is working out. He is also such a handsome kitty and super photogenic. I love all his pink, and his crisp black and white. His eyes have changed color a bit from when he was a kitten, but still a beautiful golden color. Mister Harley also has the most/best fans out there ;) He doesn’t know how lucky he is!
I’m still so grateful I randomly decided to visit the Centerville MSPCA that day in August almost 4 years ago. Thanks for reading!
This is my take for the {lawn}scaping color splash challenge. I was thinking a lot of white, with a burst of refreshing color- cool and crisp. I had fun playing with Lawn Fawn’s belinda’s borders for the first time and I had never inked up the thank you sentiment from hello friend. I really love how these challenges are inspiring me to MAKE STUFF! Are you playing a long with any fun challenges? share a link with me in the comments!
Happy Birthday Vera! I’m still getting to know all the girls over on the Lawnscaping blog, but I still wanted to wish Vera a happy day :) I colored the hedgehog and the log with copic markers. Did you know!? Hedgehogs can be really messy pets!? They tend to roll in their own poo and food etc… ewwww – anyways I digress… have a fabulous day Vera!! Pop on over to the Lawnscaping Challenge blog to see all the other fabulous cards the team created!
Playing a long with the spatter technique over on the Moxe Fab World blog- you have until July 4th to participate. I have never really used a spatter technique on my cards- definitely have on my more artsy fartsy type projects. I played with some ranger color washes, lawn fawn stamps, watercolor pencils and voila! I got a little under water scene! Thinking I will add this card to my “Heroes Card Drive” stash to send out at the end of July.
Hey everyone! I still need/want to blog about my trip up north to NH to see my dad, but wanted to post this first, so stay tuned for some beautiful NH pics soon!!
I hope you will take a minute and read about the “heroes card drive” that Lawnscaping is hosting. There are a few guidelines that HAVE to be followed when sending cards to our troops, but I’m sure some of you might even have some cards in your stash that fit the criteria. I’m going to try and make a few cards here, a few cards there and send a bunch to Laurel before the end of July. I started with a few “thinking of you” type cards. I am listing the supplies below, both cards have stickles on them for glitter, because it is VERY important not to have loose glitter on your cards you send over seas (read more about the guidelines here)
The first card also fits in with Hero Arts June Contest, this is my “thinking of you” card. I was telling the “peeps” in my class at Ink About It the other night, that I am loving these challenges and contests- not to win (although that’s fun too) but to inspire me. If I think about it, for the majority of the years I have been papercrafting, I have also been teaching- so my classes are what inspired and drove me. Now, I’m not teaching as frequently (going from 3 classes a week to 1 a month) i love these challenges and contests hosted by A Blog Named Hero, Hero Arts, Lawnscaping, and Moxie Fab for inspiration and a stepping stone when i sit down at my studio table to PLAY!

I love snapping shots of mister harley mid yawn- he looks so scary! :) In this pic he is yelling about how hot he is, and then i proceed to tell him to suck it up at least its not snowing :) You can also see how i used a pic similar to this on my holiday cards and I also love this pic of him, up on the door
I’ve been trying to be better at making cards just for the heck of it and SENDING them to people. I have the 1st part down pat, but the 2nd part I still need to work on. I made up a bunch of these cards and sent them to some friends this spring. I had a few sheets of the green pattern paper in my stash, plenty of buttons and had purchased my first lawn fawn set- so i went to town! Have you guys been enjoying the supply list at the bottom of my posts? Hope it’s helpful to recreate projects :)
I’m *wicked* excited to share with you that I have been chosen to be on the Lawnscaping’s Design Team!! I love the adorableness of the Lawn Fawn sets, and the quality of their clear stamps is top notch!! I was excited enough to be teaching with them, but now to add on top of that to be playing along with the super talented lawnscaping team is AWESOME! I hope I will inspire you to play along with their challenges as well. Check out the announcement post over on the blog, and be sure to welcome the other “new girls” too! We don’t “officially” start until July, but I thought I would share a couple Lawn Fawn cards with you anyways-
and this next card I switched up a bit for the shoebox card swap I participated in at Ink About It a few weekends ago
